Art House Reading

I'm not surprised we were assigned this reading. The course theme of community rears its head again in Alvin's article.

These microcinemas are not just venues to watch films; they are nourishment for the brain and essence. The conversations about the film are just as important as the experience of watching it as well as the actual film itself.

I found myself chuckling out loud about the irate audience member, who demanded a discussion following a screening. That particular portion of the reading reminded me of Kreul's Modern class. I remember some films where the class would just burst into yelling and debate after a screening--ask Laura Murphy if she's sympathetic to the Palestinians sometime :-p.

Experimental in the Mainstream

I started out looking for that commercial with the stop motion animation--the one where the girl is flying through the sky except you can tell she's lying on her back and they're moving the stuff around her. I like it. It makes me smile because people can do that in their basement and it's whimsical.

Anyway, being that it's October (read: the greatest month of the year) I decided to find something baseball based. So, here goes. This one's for you, Laura.
